What is Machine Learning?
Machine Learning is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) that focuses on developing algorithms that allow computers to learn from and make predictions based on data. Unlike standard programming, where direct instructions are given, machine learning models recognize patterns and relationships within the data to make decisions and predictions. The most common types of machine learning are unsupervised learning and supervised learning. Unsupervised learning is when the model finds relationships based on unlabeled data, while supervised learning is the opposite and when the model finds relationships based on labeled data. The implications of machine learning are endless, and transform how people approach problems and make decisions. Machine learning impacts many fields such as finance, healthcare, transportation, and technology. These models have provided us with a “personal assistant” to help impact our lives within any field. As machine learning has helped many fields, it has also presented people with ethical issues. These models can accidentally learn biases with training data leading to discriminatory solutions and include issues with data privacy. Due to these issues, machine learning will need constant development throughout all fields, especially that has been growing recently. Machine learning is one of the biggest and important branches of artificial intelligence and must have constant development in all fields to receive success from artificial intelligence.
