Welcome to K.I.T.E
If you’re passionate about equipping high schoolers across the country with essential computer science skills, you’re in the right place.
After our founders, Shashwath and Armaan, weren’t able to take computer science classes in high school, they decided to do something. Wanting to inform the next generation of the accessibility of coding education, Shashwath and Armaan decided to start their own coding club in their school to teach students about Python. Soon interest boomed, and they decided to find K.I.T.E– a non-profit dedicated to disperse coding education to highschoolers that faced similar barriers as them. K.I.T.E now has 4 chapters across the state, 4 online courses with over 1500 enrollments, 5 classes in centers and schools, 4 hackathons both online and in-person, and over $10,000 raised to support a common goal: inclusivity in coding education!
How We Achieve Our Mission:
We operate through chapters established in different high schools nationwide. These chapters serve as hubs for knowledge dissemination, where our dedicated chapter leaders play a pivotal role. Our leaders utilize materials available on our website or create their own, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for students.
K.I.T.E is not just about lessons; we believe in the power of hands-on learning and networking. To complement our educational efforts, we organize events such as hackathons and classes. These gatherings provide students with opportunities to apply their knowledge, connect with like-minded peers, and gain insights from industry professionals.
Are you enthusiastic about contributing to our cause? Whether you’re interested in website development, starting a chapter in your local high school, or any other form of support, we welcome your involvement. Your skills and passion can make a significant impact on the educational journey of high school students.
Meet The Team
Shashwath Inamdar
CEO/Cofounder
While presenting at a research conference at MIT, Shashwath discovered the large discrepancy between how some high schools teach computer science education and how his high school taught it. Since his school didn’t have many resources to teach students about computer science, he had to learn how to code outside the classroom. This inspired him to start KITE with Armaan, an online community where interested students can learn how to code for free.
Armaan
Shah
President/Cofounder
The large disparity in computer science education was revealed to Armaan when he wasn’t able to take computer science in high school. Finding this disturbing, Armaan partnered with Shashwath to help bridge the gap in computer science education. Collectively, they created a non-profit that would teach students how to code. Piled with his for coding and his drive to help his community he aspires to create an impact with our upcoming work!
